| Friends, I have shut down the Motorcops.com website. Over the past seven years, I've enjoyed meeting many great officers and having many unique photo experiences... shutting down a highway for 10 minutes so I could get a group photo... photo operation over our Nation's Capitol... behind the scene of a bomb squad call-out to name just a few. Although many people supported the website, I would like to personally mention just a few: Brian Fleming, Jeff Capps, Jim Polan, Andy Norrie, Rob Grimsley, Marcus James, Jesse Bowman, Al Attanasio, John Pretti, Misty Oelhafen and Tina Hollaender. 2011 Motorcops.com Calendar I plan to continue my charity work and I am thinking of doing a calendar for Christmas which will be sold here. I am going to do a limited edition historical motorcops calendar. If your department has photos from 1905-1980'ish and you would like them included, please send me an email to tell me about them. If they need to be scanned, I can do that or direct the Information Officer or Historian what digital format they would need to be for use in the calendar. Training Articles If I get a training article submitted, I will send that out as time allows. So if you're interested in mailings and you have not already registered, use the form below to receive periodic news and information. And if you finally get around to writing an article and want to send it in for broadcast, let me hear from you. Photographs I am keeping my photo account active at least through February 2011 until I have to pay for renewal. I will decide then if I keep it, though right now I have to admit that since I only sold three photos from the last two competitions, photos will more than likely go away. Over the next few weeks, I will add some new photo sizes and reduce some prices so check the site for those changes. View Photo Collections Advertisers I hope that you will continue to support these great businesses!
Shirts and cool stuff! The shirts and other items that remain in my inventory will be available around Christmas so you will have some items for your holiday giving. I am also thinking of doing a special shirt design in just a couple sizes and not try to keep 15 shirt designs in stock from Small - 4XL. Email sign-up Use the form below if you have not already registered on the Motorcops.com website. This will help to keep you up to date if I bring back a modified Motorcops.com, announcements of the annual charity calendar, training articles and other stuff. I never sell my email list! Other Websites Due to lack of interest, I am also shutting down MountedCops.com, tacticalcops.com and K-9Cops.com. Although interest was good in The Big Police Photo Book - who wouldn't want free photos - I am shelving that project too. Eighteen months ago when I first started the photos, I thought the economy would have turned around enough by now to print the book. However, I don't want to risk a huge investment now in getting them printed and then not being able to sell enough copies to cover costs. I might try again when the economy is better. Wehavenotforgotten.org It never crossed my mind that officers I knew would be killed in the line of duty. It is still hard to believe that Chris Metternich, Robert Krause and Larry Canfield are no longer with us. And, what amazes me is that the photos I had taken of them shortly before they were killed are the photos that everyone remembers them through. As time has gone by and the kids have gotten bigger and some have started to forget, these photos are locked in time. I realized my second year in Washington, DC during Police Week that it is the same for thousands of families. They leave treasured photos of their loved one that is locked in time, amongst the updated family photos from which they are sadly absent. I've wanted to know more about some of the families and learn their stories. I'm still working with the concept, but I hope to launch a website next year sometime that will tell of the officer's sacrifice, but also of the family how they have grown and what they are doing now. I also plan to list all of the memorial rides and scholarship information so people beyond just the first few weeks of tragedy will be able to help the family and kids. Well everyone, I'll be around, and maybe even bring back a new Motorcops.com, but until then... Stay safe, Mark.. |
